The Prokaryotic Atlas of Insertion Sequences (PAIS) is a comprehensive database providing public access to detailed metadata and sequence information for over 4.1 million insertion sequence (IS) elements identified in our study.
PAIS includes annotations related to cargo genes and mobile genetic element (MGE) transport for each IS element.
Each IS entry is cross-referenced with accession IDs from major public repositories such as JGI and the SRA, enhancing traceability and reusability of the data.
The web interface allows users to filter and explore IS elements by a range of criteria including source organism domain, ecosystem of origin, and IS family. Advanced filters include sequence completeness, presence of annotated cargo genes, and availability of cross-references.
Users can export customized datasets as .fasta or tab-delimited files, with flexible column selection to support diverse research workflows.
